Wonderful Wine Bar And Another Winner!

 

Tucked inside a 19th-centruy shopping arcade at 8 Passage des Panoramas, 2nd Arr., Racines is frequently voted as one of the city’s best wine bars. But not only do they serve up bottlings from 15 French producers, owner Pierre Jancou offers extraordinary dishes such as heritage chicken in a crème fraîche sauce and Langoustine lobster with spring vegetables and broth. We’d say it’s definitely worth a visit — or two, or three, or four...

One Fine Day

I know it's time to start focusing on the holidays (and I am dears! In fact, I just started working on the December newsletter while sipping spiced hot cider, yum! ), but a part of me is still a bit sad to say goodbye to cafe weather. I'm always so torn during transitional months. On the one hand, I'm excited for the season that lies ahead. But on the other, I know it's going to be a very long year until I can again enjoy the one that is passing! I just had brunch with a friend over the weekend, and we tried sitting out on the patio, but the heating lamps just weren't enough to suffice, and we rushed inside before our aperitifs hit the table. Oh well — we tried, and that's what counts! Formal farewell, cafe weather. Until we meet again next year...

The Cat’s Meow

Oh French Charmed readers, I think I’ve found something that’s guaranteed to make you purr! My daughter lives in Los Angeles and frequents an amazing French brasserie called The Little Next Door (the counterpart to the much fancier dinner spot The Little Door), and she just sent in photos of her latest visit — complete with one of the café’s extensive selection of to-die-for macaroons! If you’re ever in the L.A. area, this one is a can’t miss experience. (Bonus: It’s also a great place for celeb sightings!)
