So Twisted

As recent years have proven, braids aren’t just for little girls anymore. In fact, I swear I see more of the pretty twists on adults than I do on their mini counterparts! When done correctly and seemingly without effort, the look is super romantic. And it’s a perfect way to keep cool during these warm summer days.

I know, I know. I just posted so many yummy salad recipes to help with that last summer slim down, and now I'm messing it all up by posting this delicious, "pure perfection" dessert. But I couldn't help it: These Meyer lemon coconut and white chocolate cakes are just too beautiful not to share! And they'd be a perfect late summer afternoon treat. oxox

Watermelon Crush

Nothing screams summer like watermelon (well, except maybe pool parties and cuties in swim trunks, but if we're going to keep it PG rated, we'll stick to watermelon as our focus)! But this time, we're amping up the fruit factor into a cool, refreshing adult treat. Called the French Watermelon, this vodka slush is sure to put a smile on your face that rivals even those you get from checking out tanned hotties poolside!

A Twist On Bread And Butter

If you're anything like me, French Charmers, you're invited to so many summer soirees, you (and your kitchen) can hardly keep up! Lucky for us, Refinery 29 just published four different mouthwatering crostini recipes that are not only super simple to put together, but will also wow just about any crowd — no matter their culinary skills or experience. And if you bring along this menu board from the French Charmed boutique and list your crostini variations, you're sure to be the hit at all your summer get-togethers! Bonus: Refinery 29 took out all the work by also suggesting wine to go along with each crostini recipe. How amazing is that?

Cherries Jubilee

I just found out that I missed a local cherry picking festival (drats!), so I just had to make a post about the delightful, juicy little fruits. I know I couldn't possibly be the only one who beams with exceptional happiness every time I have a bowl of cherries — could I? Oh wait, I just remembered that saying, "Life is just a bowl of cherries." I don't know what it is about those tart little guys, but they're what summer grins are made of!

Does this not make you want to just brush off all on your to-do list and whip up a rustic cherry tart?

These shoes were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do. One of these days these shoes are gonna walk right up to you (hopefully, right)!

Donning a not so average outfit is sure to get you a not so average number of attracted head whips!

Cloud Nine

It’s warm summer days like these where I wish I could just sit on a puff of translucent wind and let the breeze take me away through the rays of sunshine. But I will settle for the much simpler option of donning a light and breezy dress that mentally and visually achieves a similar effect. Aaaaahhhhh....

Watermelon Feta Tomato Salad

Summer just wouldn’t be complete without sweet, juicy slices of yummy watermelon. It doesn’t matter how careful you are about taking bites, you will inevitably end up with light pink trails of sugary goodness streaming down your face — which when we were younger served as a delicious afterthought lip-lick and now serves as a perfect opportunity for an impromptu lip-lock with that someone special! Something else that comes with eating the juicy fruit as an adult is enjoying it in a more sophisticated manner. Our favorite is to pair it with vine ripened tomatoes, fresh cut chives and crumbled feta cheese. Yum! And it’s incredibly simple to throw together.

Ingredients:

4-5 medium orange or yellow tomatoes, chopped into ½ inch cubes (we sliced them in half and squeezed out the excess moisture before chopping)

¼ of a good sized seedless watermelon, chopped into ½ inch cubes

4-5 ounces of crumbled feta cheese

chives to taste, chopped into confetti-like pieces

salt and pepper to taste

extra virgin olive oil to taste

Directions:

Gently mix the tomatoes, watermelon, feta and chives in a bowl. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil (about three times around the bowl), sprinkle with salt and pepper and enjoy!

Bon Appetit!
