Tiny Dancer

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a prima ballerina. I took the classes, wore the tutus, learned the routines and shined in the spotlight doing assemblés across the stage. Much to my little girl wide-eyed horror, I saw one of the teenaged dancer's raw and mangled toes, and from that moment on, I swore off dancing forever! I still do dream of being Coppelia's Swanhilda, pirouetting into Franz' strong arms. But alas, the fabulous image will have to stay tucked into the private corners of my own mind. Sigh.

You Make-ah Me Blush

Spring usually brings bright colors to the forefront of fashion, but I’ve always been a sucker for softer, more natural hues. Feminine blush tones bring to mind delicate ballerinas, and you know how that image makes me twirl!

Tiny Dancer

Is it just me, or does nothing make a girl feel prettier than slipping into a flowy spring dress and showing off the sexy nape of her neck with a messy yet très chic chignon? It’s a style that looks and feels so effortless, and at the same time, whispers elegance. Like a ballet dancer. I seriously can’t get enough! But it’s an art to perfect that undone look, and it has taken me years to get it just right. Luckily, I’ve finally figured it out — and I’m going to share my secrets with you! Start with clean, dry and smooth hair (use a straightener and a little anti-frizz serum if you have natural waves or curls). Then, tease the top a tiny bit for volume and an “undone” look. Pull hair back into a low ponytail that you twist and turn into a messy bun. Use bobby pins to fix any loose pieces (though don’t make it too tight and formal), and then pull a few strands out in the front to give it that sexy, just-woke-up look. And voila: You’ve got a ballerina-like do that will surely win you more than a few admiring glances!

Beautiful Moments

It’s early in the week, but for some reason, it’s just one of those long ones where I’ve had to check the calendar to see what day it is more times than I’d like to admit! There are still a few more days until I can relax for the weekend, so I’m trying to focus on happy things to get me there. Here are a few moments that always seem to put a smile on my face. And if you can, please leave me some of your beautiful moments in the comment section! I’d love to hear about the simple moments that make you guys smile, too. :-)

1. When my man kisses my forehead ever so gently

2. When the crosswalk sign says go just as I arrive at the corner

3. Getting to the cone of my ice cream cone before any ice cream drips on my hand

4. Knowing that because of some small thing I did, I made someone’s day

5. Knowing that because of some small thing someone else did, my day was made!

6. Hearing a French accent (especially if it comes from a very good looking man!)

7. Getting an out of the blue call or letter from an old friend

8. Finding little kitty paw prints on my windshield (it’s the only thing I’m sad to wash off)

9. Trying a new, random bottle of wine and discovering it could easily become my new wine rack staple

10. When a slight breeze blows my dress in the wind, innocently showing off my silhouette

11. When I have a craving for something and my neighbor drops by with the exact thing I’d been wishing I had (so eerie but magnificent when that happens!)

12. Laughing with a friend

13. Slipping into freshly washed sheets

14. When my cat jumps up on my chest and purrs just as I’m drifting off to dreamland
