Lavender Fields Forever

Strawberries are certainly delicious, but over the years, I’ve come to realize that they don’t hold a candle to lavender. The luscious purple buds are not only pretty to look at, they have an elegant flavor that instantly transforms the ordinary to extraordinary. And speaking of strawberries, have you ever tried them with lavender? Absolutely delicious.

Mellow Yellow

It’s been dreary for days and daaaaaayyyys, so I’ve been trying everything to perk myself up. I bought some lovely pastel tulips at the market, pulled out my spring bedding and even made lemonade today. And it’s finally working! I feel much better, and I know it’s only a matter of time before the sun peeks through those clouds. In the meantime, I figured I’d bring some sunshine to the blog, as well. Hope you enjoy these French yellow rooms as much as I do!

Rules? Where We’re Going, We Don’t Need Rules!

Sometimes decorating feels like a foreign language: Do you put the rug under the couch or just the table? Can you mix stripes and florals? Do 1950s pieces work well with 1800s pieces? Wait, what is a credenza?

Fortunately, unlike learning French, there’s only one rule to remember: There are no rules when it comes to decorating! And Ballard Designs set out to prove it, listing seven common decorating “rules” that one should never abide by. Check out their list and then leave us a comment below, telling us whether or not you agree that these traditional tactics are better off forgotten — or necessary for a harmonious home.

Feather Girl

Guess what? We’ve got a little something that might tickle your fancy: A collection of vintage-inspired feather clutches that serve as every woman’s right of passage when it comes to adding unique, awe-inspiring items to her closet. And we guarantee they’ll elicit copious “oohs!” and “aahs!” from the envious people who drool over the gorgeous and one-of-a-kind accessories as if they came straight from the runway and landed directly and oh-so-perfectly nestled under your arm. It’ll happen. Trust us. Or just check out these perfectly puffed pieces and feel the envy for yourself!

French Black And White

What’s black, white and glam all over? (Hint: It’s not a joke!)  Nope, it’s these rooms, details and accessories, which are quite seriously stunning. Whether it’s in the form of stripes, checks, printed pillows or well-chosen ying and yang hued furniture, black and white proves over and over again that it will never — we repeat never — go out of style.

Booked For Love

Happy Valentine’s week, French Charmers! We’ve heard all about your fabulous V-Day plans on Facebook, and we’re so thrilled that many of you have very romantic plans in store. But don’t fret if you don’t have something planned: The day isn’t just for lovers, but also serves as an excuse for any of us to revel in romance. One way we know that works is adding some lovely whimsy to your home. And the easiest way to do this is to dress up your bookshelf with romantic accessories! Whether you adorn a shelf with our crowned love birds, place this Jeanne d’ Arc Living Picture Frame on a stack of books or wrap a pretty vase with our Caviar Pink Ribbon, you’ll feel the touch of romance in no time. Happy decorating!

Crow For The Sun

Bonjour lovely French Charmed followers! We have missed you so much, and we apologize for the short hiatus. We had decided that maybe our efforts were better geared toward some of our other social media sites (our Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter pages), but then we realized that nothing really beats blogging -- and none of our readers beat you, our blog readers! We’d like to thank the many of you that had the patience to stick around and wait for more. And, as promised, this is the first of many, many more posts to come! :)

This is our first blog of 2013, so it makes sense to tell you about our first new line in 2013: Our French Farmhouse Premiere Fabric Home Décor! We have tablecloths, table runners, pillows and chair slips all featuring a beautiful French motif of roosters, fruit, red stripes  and flowers. Beautiful on their own, but they’d really shine in farmhouse dining areas such as these!
