Oh My Oscar

It's that time of year again when I scramble to get all of the Academy Award nominated movies off my checklist (My Week With Marilyn and Albert Nobbs are the only two I have left, woo hoo!), and hand in hand with that is also the time of year I'm invited to numerous Oscar parties. All movies, all the time — and that goes for the theme of whatever dish or drink I choose to bring along to the party (or parties, if I'm feeling wild) I attend. I recently ate dinner at Rick Bayless' LA restaurant, Red O, and was delighted by the yummy goat cheese cheesecake with caramel corn. I figure movies and popcorn go splendid together, so I'm thinking of playing off that idea, making red velvet cheesecake squares with the popcorn, instead. Red velvet, red carpet... you get where I'm going with this? Anyway, I'm really pulling for Demián Bichir to win Best Actor for his performance in A Better Life, so the Mexican theme is also appropriate. Win, win!

You know how much we love everything French, but even we have to admit that it's time for the French braid to move over: Waterfall braids are the newest way to plait your hair, and it's clear to see why. Champagne, My Sweets?

Nothing makes us girls swoon more than Valentine's Day. When I say "us girls," I mean myself and my daughters — We've already all had our manicures done in fun, romantic colors (Make-ah Me Blush, anyone?), dinner reservations have been set and now: On to baking these lovely little pink champagne cupcakes, which I plan to take in to my office friends! Oh my my, aren't they adorable?! And I especially think they'll make a splash placed upon this white, ruffly tablecloth from the French Charmed boutique!

Under My Umbrella...

It's February, so it's supposed to still be snowy. Or at least icy! But nope, I just keep getting rain, rain and more rain. Which is fine by me, because I assume that will lead to early spring flowers! Fingers crossed anyway, as my table is screaming for a lovely fresh arrangement. I actually don't have a working umbrella, because I don't usually have need for one. But I have always wanted a beautiful, ruffly keeper from the storm. Do you guys usually carry umbrellas? Or do you prefer to let the rain wash away your cares?

Club Love

Club Monaco recently released some sneak peek press preview photos of their spring collection, and I have to say I'm drooling. Looks like the color palette is soft and feminine, and that goes for the materials used, as well. I can't wait to wrap myself up in the splendor!
