Daffodils Are Up!

My Daffodils are up and spreading spring cheer! Seems a bit soon, but you will not find me complaining. I am so ready for warm weather and all of the gardening work that comes along with it! I already had my garden spot tilled up on the 28th of February. Next week I will be ordering up the seeds, picking up lumber for a few more raised beds, and most important of all, getting together the honey-do list for my man! He is so good at dealing with the irrigation/sprinkling part of this business. Me, I would just turn on the old oscillator, and let'er rip! My plants appreciate (as do I) Tommy's gentler approach, evident in the yields. I do have one major issue with spiders. I do not like spiders. They have a place here, just not in my garden! I have grown my veggies organically for years as we all know what chemicals can do. But for the past two years, the spiders (cat face, black widows and the regular garden variety) have taken over. To the point, I kid you not, that even the neighbors refuse to pick the veggies from the vine! If any of you have a suggestion on how to manage these tiny pests, I would love to hear from you. Well, off I go to the Gurney's catalog to shop. Have a splendid week!

And all is well

Bonjour!
Finally, I believe French Charmed to be "bug free". I wanted to simply integrate one domain to another. Not so simple after all. I have had issues for almost two weeks! This weekend things were running smoothly. So, with any luck at all ... ... I just added some new items in the Paperie this past week, along with a few new embellishments. Here is a little peek at some of the items.

On another good note, my tax season woes have reached the 3/4 finished mark. Hooray!!!! Soon I will be able to visit my favorite antique dealers and hopefully a few estate sales. Well, hope everyone has a splendid week ~ Au Revoir!

Victorian Eastlake Settee and Chairs

Bonjour!
I finally saved up enough change to get my 1860's Victorian 3 piece Suite recovered! I sent the pieces off to the upholsterer the first part of December. I was so excited when he called to tell me it was finished! The pieces had a fairly nice fabric to begin with, but the purple color did not go with anything in our home. We have a decidedly "Hemingway" eclectic decor. So, after purchasing some wildly fabulous Cheetah Fabric from Ballard Designs, I couldn't resist using it on this Suite. I was thrilled when it was delivered a few nights ago! Below you can see the Before & After pics of my perfect pieces.

Before

After

I just LOVE how they all turned out!

Next month I am sending a 1930's Channel Back chair to the upholsterer. I'll share some of those pics just as soon as it is finished ~ Au Revoir!

Time also flies when you are NOT having fun ...

Yikes! I am once again lost in the world of gathering info. for the Tax Man! It never ceases to amaze me how much time I spend engrossed in paper work. This whole month passed by, and all I have to show for it are 16 new piles on my office floor (or whatever else might hold papers)! Which , of course, negates a trip to the nearest Office Max for filing supplies. Oh yes, time does fly when you are NOT having so much fun! Any other time of year my office is somewhat organized. There is just something about tax season that gets me "out of sorts"! So, below, I am sharing a bit of my not so perfect world. Would love to hear from all of you disorganized souls out there. Misery does love company! LOL!!

How funny! I didn't even notice my cat was in the office until I looked at this photo.

This green guy looks suspiciously like the Trash Bin on my computer desk top (always full)!

Tax Season Office!

Have a "Perfect" week! R.

Merry Christmas in Mexico!

We spent Christmas 2009 in Mexico! Our daughter Kambra & her new Hubby, Adam, joined us for the Holiday. My younger daughter Bre and her man Sebastian, still in Germany, could not make the trip. Missed you guys! Maybe next time?? The sun and beach was wonderful. Have to admit, it didn't seem like Christmas at all! The Resort we stayed at did fix a Traditional Turkey Dinner (not like moms) but they get an A+++ for trying! Lots of fun was had by all. Hope to get back there soon!

Enjoying Christmas Day: My Honey and Me on our Balcony.

Our Kids: View from our Balcony.

Me and My Honey: Hanging on the beach.

Awwwww: Our Snorkel Dorks! ( they did say the fish viewing was better here than in Hawaii)

And Away We Go: My First Canoe Adventure! Yes, I am wearing a life vest. I thought it might help to have a cushion between me & any shark that happened by (and, I am not much of a swimmer)

Kam, Tom & Me: Dock in Cabo San Lucas

Kam & Adam: Same Dock in Cabo San Lucas!

Our Resort: Las Palmes de Cortez

Thanks for stopping by my friends! I will be back with more Posts & Photos soon! Blessings, R.

Back from Holiday

We have just settled back into our routine after our trip to Mexico. The sun and beach for Christmas was so amazing! We spent some great quality time with our daughter Kambra and our new son-in-law Adam ~ new nickname for them: SnorkleDorks ~ Awww we love you guys! We have a few pics to share that I will post next week. I am off to Idaho this week, to visit family, as my beautiful grandmother's spirit has passed on. She had a very happy and healthy 92 years in this lifetime. I will cherish my wonderful memories as she watches over me. Well, I need to get packing! Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year Wishes!

Christmas Post with an Adventskranz!

Bonjour and Joyeux Noel!

Hope everyone is staying all bundled up and warm this holiday season. We have had very cold rainy weather here. But, I am happy to report we will be staying very warm on Christmas day, as we will be in sunny Mexico! Since we are not going to be around, I decided to put a little artificial tree up this year. Not ultra chic, but it certainly works! The past few days I have been thinking about what to use for my Christmas post. Then this morning, I received an email from my youngest daughter Bre, and she sent the perfect material! She has recently moved to Germany and this will be her first Christmas living abroad. I was delighted by her email and the photos she sent of her first handcrafted Adventskrantz! This is her sweet description: "So in Germany they have a tradition that five Sundays before Christmas you make an Adventskranz (a wreath with four candles). You light one candle the first Sunday, then two the next Sunday and so on until all the candles have been lit. You can light them during the week too, but only the ones previously lit. So anyway, I decorated ours and wanted to share it with you!" I learned something new today about another Christmas tradition, and thought it would make the perfect Christmas post to share with all of you! Below is Bre's beautiful Adventskranz.

Fabulous! Thanks for sharing with us Bre. Merry Christmas!

And Merry Christmas to all of you! Hope to see you in the New Year! Cheers and Warm Blessings, R.

Our Sunrise

Happy Sunday! We had the most beautiful sunrise today. Try as I may, I could not capture the full extent of such beauty in my camera lens. This is my best shot. Thought I should share it with you anyway. This truly is a magnificent Universe! Blessings ~ R.
